Michael Sciortino

July 10, 1975 — February 14, 2025

Rochester

It is with great sadness that the family of Michael John Sciortino, 49, of Rochester, MN, announce his passing on Friday, February 14th, 2025. After a difficult battle with cancer.

Michael was a beloved husband, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, son-in-law, teacher, mentor, colleague, and friend; and he will be greatly missed.

Michael was born on July 10th, 1975, in Seoul, Korea and was adopted by Kathryn Redding and John W. Sciortino of Richfield MN.

He married his best friend Jodi Sciortino (Haub) on December 31st, 1998. Michael and Jodi met at North Central University and have been together ever since. They were active members of New Life Church in Springfield, MO.

He received a Bachelor of Science, in History Education in 2015 and Master of Arts, History in 2024 from Missouri State.

Most recently, he worked for Mayo Clinic health systems as registration representative in Red Wing. And prior to his time at Mayo Clinic, he was a high school and middle school social studies teacher and paraeducator Ralls Co., Springfield, Aurora, and Everton Public Schools in Missouri.

He loves spending time with his beloved dogs, Bear and Nox.

Michael is survived by his wife, Jodi Sciortino (Haub), sister, Karyn Sciortino Johnson (Chester), brothers-in-law, Robert Frantz (Raul), Dave Frantz (Colleen), sister-in-law, Lynn Franz Gillespie, nieces, Aimee Gillespie (Justin) and Krystal Jorgensen (Tom), nephews, Jordan Frantz, Liam and Quinn Johnson, mother, Kathryn Redding, and father-in-law, John Frantz (Wilma).

He was preceded in death by his father, John W. Sciortino, mother-in-law, Gloria Trail, and grandparents, Victor Redding, Bernice Redding, Salvatore Sciortino and Theresa Sciortino.

A celebration of life will be on May 8th at New Life Church, 776 W Farm Road 186, Springfield, MO 65810, at 5:30 PM, with a fellowship meal to follow. The service will be live streamed for those who may not be able to attend in person. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to 4 the Love K9's.
