Wayne Al Meisner passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2025 at Samaritan Bethany in Rochester, MN. He was comfortable and at peace.
Wayne was born in Stillwater, MN on April 4, 1930. He was the fourth son of Allan and Laura Meisner.
Wayne grew up in Afton, MN on the family farm. Although, it was often hard work, he had a wonderful childhood fishing, canoeing, hunting, hiking and camping, skiing and helping on the farm.
Wayne graduated from Stillwater HS in 1948. He was an accomplished athlete in football, hockey and track. He was a favorite pal to many.
Wayne went on to play football at St Cloud State but chose to enlist in the Air Force in 1950. Serving in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1954.
Wayne then went on to Colorado State University and received a degree in Business. He later earned a Masters at the University of MN in education.
Although, he worked in retail his passion was teaching economics, business law and marketing. He taught in Thief River, Duluth and Rochester, MN. Retiring from Rochester Community College in 1992.
On June 25, 1960, he married Karen Larson, at Salem Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. He knew she was the one, his "little doll", proposing to her in his car as his famed black lab sat in the front seat. They celebrated nearly 64 years of marriage. She passed away April 8, 2024
Wayne is survived by his daughter Kristin (Tim) Limberg of Rochester and his son David (Caroline) Meisner of Elko, NV. He has six grandchildren each one his joy and he was their Opa. They include Afton (Jake) Limberg-Bettencourt, Avree Limberg, Aaron (Karissa Helvig) Limberg, Wayne (Robin) Meisner, Kate Meisner, Zach Meisner-Bruno. His two great-granddaughters blessed him with great artwork and songs, they are Aubree and Everleigh Limberg. He is also survived by Steve (Anne) Fossey and their children Matthew, Joanna and Patrick and their families. His sister, Marilyn Maddson and many nieces, nephews and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his wife and three brothers.
Wayne will be missed by so many. He was an incredible man. Sharing not only the shirt off his back, but also his vast knowledge of theology, bread baking, economics, American History, hunting, fishing, camping, sailing and skiing. He loved a good joke and a great country song! His unique guitar style will never be matched! He built his home, and helped his son build two cabins. He also built a sailboat (The Kristina) in his backyard. If you never debated Wayne at his kitchen table, you missed out!
The family extends our heartfelt gratitude to his care givers at Samaritan Bethany, Global Health and Seasons Hospice.
Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00am on Friday, June 13, 2025 at Rochester Covenant Church with visitation from 9:30am to 10:00am.
